- Performs the most complex, non-routine payroll functions such as investigating and resolving discrepancies and processing special pay situations to provide accurate and timely wages and salaries to employees. Supervision is available, but not typically utilized.
**What Skills You Need**:
- Runs and reconciles the payroll and books the accruals.
- Analyzes data for payroll discrepancies.
- Investigates & resolves the most complex payroll discrepancies such as those that require follow-up outside of the department.
- Processes special pay situations that include running various programs and auditing the program output.
- Analyzes legal and contractual documents related to payroll issues such as garnishments.
- Provides answers to the most complex payroll questions after analyzing the problem or situation.
- Prepares information for outside parties such as calculation of lost wages for worker's compensation and Quarterly Supplemental Unemployment audit.
**What Makes You Stand Out**:
- Understanding of the Accounting fundamentals, such as debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgets, etc.
- Ability to use various department specific computer programs.
- Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of payroll programs and payroll contractual language.
