**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**Position Summary**:
Product Engineer position is responsible for engineering activities on pneumatic and electro-pneumatic valves used in the product line of vehicles braking components and system. Technical responsibilities for a specific product/family of products include analysis and implementation of design changes, product improvements, concept prototyping, validations, supplier transitions, cost improvement, new variants release, external and internal customer support/projects; technical product evaluations; creation and maintenance of product requirements like DFMEAs, specifications, BOMs, 3D models, 2D drawings, test plan validations, continuous support and monitoring of production lines, manufacturing processes and quality controls.
**Essential Functions**:
- Works closely with Design/Test Engineers to create/update product drawings, specifications
and document product requirements.
- Create and conduct Design Validation Product Plan and Releases (DVP&R) for products requirements.
- Ensure MSA studies for projects, process and equipment used.
- Author of product/design/testing specifications and components/assembly drawings.
- Lead and update DFMEA activities including critical characteristics (C/C's and S/C's) linkage to product safety, standards regulations, and manufacturing processes implementation.
- Interface with Advance Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineers and Plant Engineers to implement modifications needed as production assembly lines to comply with product specifications/requirements.
- Collaborate with plant requirements for IPA and PPAPs processes including VAVE activities.
- Create and coordinate Product Quality Audits (PQAs).
- Lead problem-solving activities with cross functional teams providing conclusions and recommendations based on testing reports.
- Perform analysis of End-Of-Line rejects and warranty returns; synthesis and implementation of solutions.
- Learn valve design techniques from current experts, capture knowledge and create documentation to maintain Bendix valve design knowledge base.
- Perform basic project management tasks - maintain project status and milestones; report out to management; anticipate workload, potential delays, potential problems.
- The individual will display and further develop an area of technical expertise, to be used as a "To-Go" person within the engineering department for that technology or technique.
- This position includes to travel to work with Customers, Bendix & Knorr-Bremse colleagues as well as Suppliers.

**Knowledge**:
- Generate and Evaluate Product Change Proposals and Requests
- Proficient on DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP, DVP&R, PPAP, MSA, Continuous Improvement and 5's.
- Root Cause Analysis Techniques (Six Sigma, Shainin, other )
- Product Data Management PDM/PLM (Team Center preferable)
- Proficient in GD&T (Stack Up Analysis)
- Reliability and Statistical Analysis (Binomial, Weibull, Process Capability)
- Pneumatic Vehicle Braking Systems valves knowledge is strongly preferable.
- IATF1694 and VDA preferable.
- SAP knowledge is a plus.
- CAD knowledge is a plus
- FEA is a plus.
**Experience**:
- Minimum 5 years of Engineering experience in a structured engineering environment, with 2 years minimum in automotive industry experience, IATF and VDA preferable.
- At least 3 years of experience in product responsibility with exposure to production facilities.
- High level of experience in DFMEA's, PFMEA's, DVP, DVP&R, PPAP and MSA.
- Experience providing technical support to final customers
- Lead in cost reduction projects
- Desired experience in reliability and statistical analysis (E.g. Weibull, ANOVA, CP/Cpk)
- Design of mechanical components preferred, particularly injection molded plastic, casting and machining.
- Experience in design and manufacturing reviews
- GD&T and stack-up analysis experience. GD&T certification preferred.
- Engineering change processes understanding is required; CAD and PLM tools and design documentation including creation and/or checking of drawings
- Exposure to automated testing and results analysis preferred
- Validation testing including mechanical, electrical, and climatic environments
- Current product support, including: statistical analysis of production data, design of experiments, component failure analysis, and maintenance of specifications, 3D models and 2D drawings, and BOMs.
**Required Skills**:
- Familiar with common engineering administrative tools (MS, ERP-SAP, Team Center, CAD)
- Effective communication Spanish and English (Verbal & Writing) with good interpersonal relationships (Soft Skills)
