**Senior Health and Safety Manager - LNG Business Line (MEXICO)**
**Location**: Ensenada, Baja California, México
We operate regasification facilities and are expanding into liquefaction projects to meet growing energy demands worldwide.
**Position Overview**: We are seeking an experienced **Senior Health and Safety Manager** to lead health and safety (HS) efforts across our LNG business line in Mexico. This pivotal role will oversee the existing regasification facility and future liquefaction operation, including a large-scale construction project involving over 5,000 contractors. The Senior Health and Safety Manager will directly supervise two managers (H&S Operations and H&S Engineering & Construction), as well as a team of near 20 HS professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement in HS performance. The Senior Manager is also responsible for the communications with upper management.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement strategic HS plans, policies, and programs tailored to the unique risks and operational requirements of LNG regasification and liquefaction facilities.
- Provide leadership and direction to the H&S Operations Manager and Engineering & Construction Manager, overseeing their respective teams and ensuring alignment with corporate HS objectives.
- Lead and coordinate HS activities for major LNG construction projects, overseeing the safety of over 5000 contractors and subcontractors involved in the liquefaction process.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and internal departments to ensure effective HS integration throughout project lifecycle stages.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards, evaluate HS performance, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Monitor and report on key HS metrics and performance indicators, presenting findings to senior management and recommending improvements to enhance safety and mitigate risks.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by promoting awareness, providing training and development opportunities, and encouraging employee engagement in HS initiatives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to LNG operations and construction safety, incorporating relevant updates into company policies and procedures.
- Manage HS budget allocation, resource planning, and allocation to support effective implementation of HS initiatives across the LNG business line.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A Master's degree and professional certifications (e.g., CSP) are preferred.
- Proven experience (minimum 10 years) in health, safety, and environmental management within the energy sector, with specific expertise in LNG operations and construction projects.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams of HS professionals, including direct supervision of managers.
- In-depth knowledge of HS regulations and standards applicable to LNG facilities, construction projects, and international best practices (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO standards, ASEA's MX).
- Experience in overseeing HS aspects of large-scale construction projects, ensuring compliance with project schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and senior executives.
- Proven track record in driving continuous improvement initiatives and achieving measurable results in HS performance and culture.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
