Title: Legal Contracts Manager, MBC Job Description: Johnson Controls is a global leader in the development, manufacture and sale of a wide range of building technologies and solutions, including building management systems, access, video and intrusion security systems, fire detection and suppression systems, air systems, refrigeration and HVAC controls and equipment.The Legal Contracts Manager will work in close collaboration with the commercial transactions legal team (U.S. based lawyers and contract managers) to support the delivery of legal services to internal clients in the United States and Canada. The Legal Contract Manager will assist and support (i) the review, drafting and negotiation of agreements, including sales, distribution, service, procurement, and construction contracts, and (ii) assist with updating forms, tools, and processes.The Legal Contracts Manager must be forward-looking with a "can do" orientation and willing to develop a deep understanding of the businesses they support. They must demonstrate innovative thinking, work independently and proactively, and function as a trusted advisor to the attorneys and business team members they support. Primary Duties:
- Assist and support the review, drafting and negotiation of agreements, including sales, distribution, service, procurement, and construction contracts in accordance with the company's policies.
- Provide support to the law department and business unit personnel that manage independent channel sales distribution networks (e.G., transactional support; contract management; engagement and disengagement of external sales partners).
- Manage the contract review workflow tool.
- Perform research and analysis for decision-making and present synopsis. Candidates for the Legal Contracts Manager role must possess the following:
- Law degree and minimum of 5 years of commercial transactions experience which includes meaningful periods of time supporting multinational organizations in the review and negotiation of English language contracts, whether as part of a law firm or corporate law department.
- Must be fluent in English, verbal and written.
- Effective oral and written communication and organization skills.
- Process-driven, detail oriented, self-motivated, and analytical.
- Self-starter with good problem-solving skills and a client service focus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products, with specific experience in Word, Power Point, Excel and database creation and maintenance.
