The Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of test engineers and technicians. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills who can ensure consistent quality and reliability of product testing. The Laboratory Supervisor will collaborate closely with engineering teams worldwide, focusing on developing testing setups and implementing robust testing protocols. This position requires both technical expertise and effective people management skills, especially in a fast-paced automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate daily operations within the laboratory, ensuring adherence to testing standards and protocols.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of test engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support in test setup development and execution.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams across different sites to ensure global alignment on testing standards, methodologies, and quality objectives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory best practices to maintain high testing quality and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Review and improve testing protocols and methodologies, leveraging Six Sigma principles to enhance process efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and utilized effectively, coordinating maintenance schedules as required.
- Analyze test results and troubleshoot issues, implementing corrective actions to resolve discrepancies and improve testing outcomes.
- Prepare and present regular reports on lab performance, highlighting areas for improvement and proposing solutions to optimize testing processes.
- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment in compliance with all company and industry health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a laboratory or testing environment.
- Strong understanding of testing protocols, quality assurance, and validation processes in the automotive industry.
- Proven experience managing a technical team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and motivate others.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent knowledge in quality management and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with global teams.
- Willingness to travel to various company sites as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
- Experience with regulatory compliance standards in the automotive sector.
- Knowledge of corrosion, stress testing, and durability testing methods
