As a **Legal Counsel** for the MX-CO-EC Sales Market, in the Controlling function, you will work on a broad range of contractual matters. You will have oversight of commercial, corporate and transactional legal matters, excluding procurement, store construction, & expansion matters. You will work closely with colleagues in the legal, sales, head office and core infrastructure and support functions including all H&M brands.

This hybrid role reports into our Controlling Manager MX CO EC with a dotted line to our Regional Legal and Corporate Governance Manager and is based out of Mexico City, MX.

**A Day in the Life**

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*
- Negotiate, review and draft simple to complex business and commercial contracts, license agreements, settlements and NDA's.
- Ensures that contracts are in compliance with legal, regulatory and organization policies
- Monitors the contract process to assure compliance with the organization's contractual guidelines, and adherence to organization policy
- May act as contract liaison between the organization and vendor, including participation in precontract discussions, contract negotiations and contract changes
- Assesses commercial risk of contracts
- In house liaison to outside counsel
- Assist other functions in resolving legal matters, including providing general legal advice and interpreting contracts
- Perform other general legal work as assigned including legal research and compliance verification
- Point of contact for the global legal team as it pertains to local legal matters, excluding procurement, store construction & expansion matters
- Manage and oversee Regulatory Compliance department
- Provide legal advice for a wide range of regulatory product matters,
- Drafts and prepares certain policies and regulatory reporting
- Act as liaison between the organization and outside counsel, including participation in recalls and litigation
- Financial Accountability: Ensuring legal fees are controlled
- May perform other activities related to the position

**Qualifications** Who You Are**:

- College degree from an accredited law school
- 2-5 years' experience in-house, law firm, governmental agency and/or self-regulatory organization experience
- Can state facts, law and legal arguments clearly and logically in written and oral form
- Excellent drafting and effective negotiation skills. Needs to be a business person as much as an attorney
- Efficient, ability to prioritize workload and multi-task with constant regard for accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including senior management
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate legal matters to non-lawyers
- Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
- Solid project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Proficient in Word and Excel
