.**Job Summary**The **_Product Cost Manager _**primary focus is to drive the organization to hit product cost targets thru collaboration with Engineering, Procurement and Operations to position our product costs below that of competition. Reporting to the Director, Program Management, this role leads the overall process of Product Cost reporting, review, and prioritized cost improvement action execution for the assigned group of products. Cost managers are responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost-related decisions. They work to ensure that costs are controlled and managed effectively, while also ensuring that quality standards are met or exceeded. The Cost Manager works with the sales and rep organizations to feed the various supporting processes to drive the lowest, most accurate, cost-efficient process to yield the price/cost reflective at time of manufacture taking into make/buy analysis and capacity considerations.By managing a robust product costing program, this role will ensure that Vertiv is able to manufacture best cost-competitive products. This role will focus on:- Ensuring offering managers and other business stakeholders have a clear understanding of product costs and the elements of those costs including material and manufacturing costs.- Ensuring product cost targets are established throughout the various steps of the project, including service.- Driving reduction in product cost, closely collaborating with Offering Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Finance to position our products below that of our competition.**Responsibilities**:- Establish current/actual product cost reporting capability and cadence of review. (Continual cost & margin monitoring)- Perform cost variance reporting. Understand product cost structure, identify, and analyze quarterly variances.- Establish product cost comparison among different manufacturing plants internally and externally, including outside purchase/manufacturing options.- Work with product cross-functional team (notably Offering Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and Finance) to identify and drive product cost improvement metrics and actions.- Coordinating the identification, reporting, and execution of VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) cost reduction projects and their financial impact.- Reviewing and advising on target product cost as part of NPDI and throughout the lifecycle of the product.**Requirements**:- B.S. in Engineering, Industrial preferred or equivalent experience in product engineering and manufacturing; a dditional MBA preferred- At least 3 years related experience- Demonstrable experience in Engineering / Supply Chain or Manufacturing Operations and working with cross-functional teams to identify and execute on priority actions.- Experience in analyzing and driving improvement in data reporting with Finance and IT systems
