The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications.The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Key Responsibilities :Assign and mentor engineering personnel in product design projects to meet deliverablesGuide direct reports on optimal design engineering methodologiesEnsure accountability for project execution milestones, schedules, and budgetsConduct annual personnel reviews focusing on areas of development and training plansEstablish a people network within Technology Development, Product Line Management and Manufacturing organizationsDrive fundamental understanding by leading and / or collaborating with process engineers, modeling, material and molding expertsReview and generate Intellectual PropertySupervise people in local and possibly remote Corning locationsEducation :BS in an engineering disciplineRequired Competencies :1 to 3 years of supervisory experienceDemonstrated problem solving and decision-making skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills in English and SpanishProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work in a dynamic, collaborative environmentAbility to motivate self and othersStrong conflict resolution skillsDesired Competencies :Background in Mechanical EngineeringExperience in CAD systemsExperience in a global organizationExperience with outdoor enclosuresExperience in fiber optic telecommunications networksBasic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (ASME Y14.5 2009)Basic understanding of precision manufacturing and measurement techniquesFamiliarity with injection molding and extrusion processesTravel requirements :10-15%, includes local trips as well as international trips.
