.Job Title: System EngineerJob Summary:10-15 years experience having experience with Linux/Unix/Windows, VMware, storage.We are seeking an experienced VMware L3 Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. The VMware L3 Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting complex VMware environments. The individual will work closely with L1 and L2 teams, provide escalation support, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and uptime of virtualized systems.Key Responsibilities:Virtual Infrastructure Management:Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vSphere environments, and vCenter servers.Manage virtual machine (VM) lifecycle including provisioning, optimization, and decommissioning.Perform advanced configuration and tuning of VMware clusters (HA, DRS, vMotion, etc.).Troubleshooting and Escalation:Provide L3 support for escalated issues from L1 and L2 teams.Diagnose and resolve complex issues within VMware environments including VM performance, network configurations, and storage integrations.Engage in root cause analysis for recurring or major incidents.Capacity Planning and Optimization:Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance ensuring efficient resource allocation (CPU, memory, storage).Conduct capacity planning for future growth and scaling requirements.Perform health checks and proactively address potential risks in the environment.Backup and Disaster Recovery:Implement and manage backup solutions for virtual machines.Define, implement, and test disaster recovery strategies for virtual environments.Security and Compliance:Implement security best practices for VMware infrastructure including network segmentation, encryption, and access controls.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Automation and Scripting:Automate repetitive tasks using PowerCLI, Python, or other scripting languages.Implement automation tools to streamline operational workflows.Collaboration and Documentation:Collaborate with storage, networking, and application teams to ensure smooth operation of virtualized environments.Maintain up-to-date documentation for all configurations, procedures, and infrastructure designs.Required Skills and Experience:Experience:5 years of experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).Proven experience in an L3 or senior technical support role.Technical Skills:Advanced knowledge of VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX.Strong troubleshooting skills in complex VMware environments.Hands-on experience with server virtualization including clustering, snapshots, and performance tuning.Experience with VMware disaster recovery solutions (e.G., SRM).Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerCLI, Python, or similar).Knowledge of related technologies such as SAN/NAS, storage networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, etc., and backup solutions.Certifications (preferred):VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher (VCDX, VCAP)
