Additionally, this position will/must:- Have the ability to analyze and understand impact and have a broader perspective on specific accounting issues. This requires a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar's business accounting issues and full support of the unit leadership team.- Act as a teacher on accounting issues to staff accountants as well as non-accountants- Resolve issues independently- Lead and/or direct teams within or outside of discipline addressing complex problems- Take full responsibility for outcomesSenior Staff Accountant II's are knowledgeable on a variety of accounting functions but generally have specialized areas of responsibility at this level. Incumbent has the ability to accomplish complex and/or technical analysis, but generally utilizes data gathered by others to render an accounting opinion or business decision. Incumbent will provide advice/recommendations to business unit managers and leaders often working on tactical and strategic business issues.Possible specific areas of responsibility could include but are not limited to:- Determining Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for high complexity projects- OPACC growth strategy- Enterprise coordination and/or governance of costing and/or investment activities- Product group and/or operational strategy development & execution- Global footprint and sourcing strategy- Development of new/alternative costing methodologies, processes, and/or systems- Business proposal development and/or review- Post Implementation Audit (PIA) completion and/or review- End-to-end project management for sourcing/footprint studies and strategic GFSD initiativesIncumbent must demonstrate specific accounting knowledge and independently handle accounting issues
