- This position is expected to be capable of leading internal and external resources to achieve the desired outcomes of key performance indicators (continuity of supply, reduction in cost, and overall improvement of process and product quality), and have a thorough understanding of process operations within the division(s).
- **Job Purpose Summary**
The Sr Mechanical Design Engineer provides leadership and technical support, to a manufacturing division (s) and Engineering project (s) as it relates to Mechanical Engineering.
- This includes the development of the new design of mechanical fixtures, ensured form, fit and function across sophisticated assemblies, and utilization of GD&T on mechanical drawings and ANSI/ISO standards in development of drawings packages, assemblies and BOMs.
- This position is expected to be capable of leading internal and external resources to achieve the desired outcomes of key performance indicators (continuity of supply, reduction in cost, and overall improvement of process and product quality), and have a thorough understanding of product design and process operations, within the division(s).
- **What you will do**
- Supports process improvement efforts by carrying out Mechanical Design related tasks directly and through managing internal and external resources. Helps identify improvement opportunities and offers solutions.
- Supports capital project efforts from a Mechanical Engineering standpoint including Design for Reliability, Manufacturability, and Serviceability, Fixtures Development, drawing packages and design transfer to manufacturing. Expected to oversee the efforts of internal and external resources as needed.
- Subject Matter Expert in Suture Attachments, maintains and develops state of the art manufacturing process to have a reliable attachment process for each type of suture combination.
- Provide technical direction, ensuring effective project delivery for transfer to manufacturing including product design, fixtures optimization.
- Support tribal mechanical engineering knowledge transfer during manufacturing site consolidation.
- Ensure engineering support to process alterations to existing products.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and risks to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

**What you will need**
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in Developing product and/or manufacturing process within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with precision mechanical design.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and within deadlines.
- Strong understanding of Design For Manufacturing and how to drive design review.
- Experience working with multiple sites and product lines. Act as technical mentor to Mechanical Engineers on multiple projects.
- Demonstrated track-records in new process development and state of the art technology.
- Proven track record of successfully working in complex engineering projects and delivering results on time and within budget.
- Thorough knowledge of the following concepts:
- GD&T & ANSI/ISO standards
- Implements complex design concepts and ideas into working blueprints and drawings with CAD software, such as SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drive systems
- Capable of the following:

- Inspects and oversees testing of prototypes, tools, and fixtures after fabrication to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Partnering with resources from other disciplines to successfully develop and execute capital improvement projects from conception through commissioning.
- Strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills- International and domestic travel up to 25%
