What you will do?The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible to contribute to the global engineering team through lowering product cost by generating, maintaining, and driving cost reduction projects that are plant and/or globally applicable. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will continuously research new technologies, materials, and assembly methodologies and recognize changes to Form/Fit and Function. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will also support the global engineering team through various global engineering tasks and factory support. These tasks require very strong communication skills and the ability to clearly and consistently present information to engineering teammates, engineering managers, product management, and manufacturing.
How you will do it?Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles, and processes related to mechanical aspects of chillers.Generate VAVE ideas across NA Plants while maintaining detailed records/Pipeline.Create VAVE Idea generation events at NA Plants.Has proficiency in mechanical design and will be able to conceptualize and recommend cost savings ideas for product implementation.Work closely with manufacturing by observing product and communicating with assemblers and operators on the shop floor on a regular basis while maintaining a cost reduction backlog.Creates business cases that clearly show the proposed ideas and savings by reviewing bill of materials, working with procurement and manufacturing teams.Contributes to the on-time completion of projects and regularly reports on the status and progression of projects.Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data, bill of materials, and existing documentation.Possesses and continues to maintain knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process.Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.Closely works with plant controller to approve projects on a regular basis.Availability to pivot between STIVA and CIE Plants.Occasional international and mostly domestic travel may be required (Max. of 20%).RequirementsB.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related science.Minimum 5 years' experience in a related field.Ability to work independently and possesses a high drive for success.Needs to be self-driven and highly motivated.Experience working in a Manufacturing or Engineering Environment.Strong product development background in a manufacturing environment would be a plus.Proficient with Microsoft Office.
