Systems Engineer, Client Computing Platforms [Application Packaging & Delivery Services]The Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Services [Client Computing Platform – Application Packaging & Delivery Services] is a hands-on expert in modern client computing technologies, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining client and mobile application packages globally across our client endpoint computing environment (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android). The role includes managing configurations, ensuring smooth operations, and providing ongoing support for client endpoints and virtual desktop environments.
The engineer collaborates with various teams (e.g., Modern Workplace, security, infrastructure) to guide project planning, troubleshoot issues, and improve the client computing platform for enterprise, retail, distribution, and manufacturing segments. They also define future strategies, establish standards, and automate processes for continuous platform advancement.
Additionally, the role involves monitoring the client computing infrastructure, handling design, planning, patching, upgrades, and system protection. The engineer leads contractors and service providers in performing these tasks, which include 24/7 monitoring, system changes, and security patching. This position is part of Client's Global IT Infrastructure Services team and works closely with vendors and third-party providers.
Responsibilities:This role serves as the lead technical resource for our client and mobile application packaging and delivery services, supporting multiple global IT initiatives. Key responsibilities include researching, engineering, and deploying applications across Windows, Mac, and mobile OS, integrated with Intune. The role involves packaging applications, managing OS upgrades, patches, and ensuring compliance while overseeing daily operations, troubleshooting, and infrastructure administration.
The engineer also develops automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to optimize system health, streamline updates, and test solutions. The role involves participation in troubleshooting, incident response, and off-hours on-call support. Collaboration with end-user services, solution architects, and IT teams is essential to guide design, testing, and operational processes, ensuring alignment with global IT standards and best practices.
Other responsibilities include participating in design sessions for infrastructure solutions, reviewing technical designs, developing documentation for architecture standards, and managing stakeholder and vendor relationships. The role focuses on continuous improvement of standards, processes, and systems to optimize Kontoor's client computing technologies.
Work Experience:8 years of experience in Enterprise IT industry experience encompassing a wide range of skill set, roles and industry verticals including a large-scale global IT operation, envisioning, design, implementation, migrations, transformations, deployment rollout including broad experience with driving IT platform architecture/design/administration, service management and IT governance/control processes.6-8 years of progressive experience working with 4 or more of the following functional technology areas:Automate and scripting of End User Computing desktop and mobile application packages, deployment and delivery services for Windows OS, Mac OS, Mobile OS (iOS & Android) endpoints and virtual desktop (Azure AVD), Office 365 and integrations for deployment services via Intune and enterprise application store.End User Computing technologies, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Collaboration, Hybrid-Azure Active Directory, Security administration, Apple Enterprise technologies, Servers, Networking, automation services, across the enterprise, retail, distribution, and manufacturing business segments.Design, engineering, and administration of modern enterprise client computing operating systems & platforms – Windows, MacOS, Linux, Thin-Client OS, Mobile OS (iOS/Android), Intune, Azure, Defender, Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktops/Applications.Enterprise Modern End User Computing platform technologies for virtual desktop, hosted desktop/applications, security hardening and patching, client application packaging/delivery/deployment for local and virtual deployment, App-Stores, Azure Windows Virtual Desktop, Azure Remote apps & FSLogix experience preferred.Enterprise MDM/MAM and endpoint system management – (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android) Intune, SOTI, 10Zig, JAMF, Beyond Trust Insight (EPM) & Remote Support (Bomgar).Enterprise client hardware build and deployment management – DELL, Apple, HP, Lenovo, 10zig, Thin-Client, Mobile devices, Zebra, printing.3 years of experience with infrastructure orchestration and automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) for provisioning and management of on-premises infrastructure, Azure hosted Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities (Azure) including virtual networks, virtual machines, and data services.3 years of experience with agile IT framework, CI/CD platforms and tools such as Azure DevOps, Pipeline, Git, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.3 years of experience with scripting and automating Infrastructure and cloud platforms using scripting languages, tools and management of script libraries such as Azure PowerShell, PowerShell, Azure ARM/AUM, Python, Bash, Ansible, Broadcom (CA) Automic.3 years of experience in advanced level knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, routers, load balancers and XML gateway devices, including IPv4, IPv6, SFTP, SSH, PKI/SSL, DNS, DHCP, HTTPS, URL Filtering, NAC, etc.Education requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred, or a 10+ years combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.
Certification in Cloud Computing Platforms (e.g., PowerShell, Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP).
Combination of Certifications in various Client Computing Technologies (e.g., End-User Computing Platforms, Enterprise client applications, Server-Client Virtualization, VDI, Application Packaging/Delivery Lifecycle, SAN storage, Data protection, Microsoft, Infrastructure Security, Various Operating Systems & database platforms).
ITIL Certification and experience preferred.
