This opportunity enables an individual to grow and innovate while experiencing a cross-functional work environment and implementing new technologies in building world-class aircraft.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Lean Manufacturing.Assist CI team to drive implementation of Lean activities and development of a continuous improvement focused culture through project-based work.Systematically work through operations projects using PDCA/Scientific Method.
Read, interpret, and make recommendations based upon technical specifications, blueprints, and other technical data available.Focus projects and activities on identification and correction of issues impacting Safety, Quality, Volume, Cost, and People Morale.Assist with driving Culture and Behaviors based on the Shingo model.Assist operations/functional leaders with Lean events.Actively participate in the innovation process by providing input regarding new technology to improve any process.Assist with Benchmarks and share best practices across the organization (not limited to new tech).Provide insight for Vision and goals for operations.
Participate in strategy definition, develop tactics, and project management.Assist with monthly reviews with the multi-disciplinary teams.Support the development of the 5 Process Excellence Operating Systems for SQVCM.Support deploying Golden Kaizen Triangle: Standardization, Visual Management, and Standard Management.Assess/Audit the Lean Journey, Operational Performance, Process Excellence, and Operating Systems.EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following:Mechanical EngineeringManufacturing EngineeringManufacturing Engineering TechnologyIndustrial EngineeringSciencesTechnologyOther related fieldsQUALIFICATIONS:Action-oriented and ability to shift processes and priorities quickly.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong work ethic.Good analytics and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational skills.Computer proficiency.Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job
