Accountant Senior, Payroll & Tax Compliance
Position Purpose
Payroll and Tax Compliance Accountant
- Responsible of all payroll and payroll taxes recordings and ensuring that financial information has been properly recorded in books.
Also, validate the State payroll taxes and FONACOT in accordance to corresponding provisions on timely basis and duly supported with proper documentation for all AutoZone companies.
It is responsible of the accounting reconciliations of the payroll department.
When necessary and required by the Authorities attends the tax requirements, makes the writs to be file and coordinates the filing with the Authorities and/or with the employees at the stores.
Primary Accountabilities
- Payroll taxes calculation - In charge of reviewing and validating the monthly payroll state tax payment calculation for 32 states for the AutoZone entities.
The Payroll Tax and Compliance Accountant should be qualified to download information from GL, AP and other systems in order to proceed with calculations.
As well, should have high level understanding of monthly payroll tax determination.
It is in charge of filling and filing tax formats before the Authorities.
Keeps good documentation of monthly and annual work papers calculations.
As well, prepares information for annual informative returns and provide information for annual tax opinions (dictámenes fiscales estatales) for proper filing.
- Accounting records and financial information - In charge of ensuring that all payroll records are properly recorded in books and that financial information is accurate.
Works jointly with funtional area controllers providing information for period close and statutory close.
Elaborates recording based on MX -NIF and US-GAAP standard regulations.
As well, ensures that income tax withholdings made to employees are properly recorded and paid to Tax Authorities.
- Tax Compliance and audit - Attends and clarifies all tax requirements made from local authrities for payroll taxes and social contibutions, high writing and thecnical skills are needed to comply.
Provides information required from internal and external audit when requested.
- Book Reconcilaitions - Prepares book reconciliations of AZ 3 Group entities for payroll and payroll taxes accounts.
Validates and follow up discrepacies found on books.
- Electronic invoicing - Ensures and validates monthy that electronic invoicing stamping is made correctly following SAT invoicing rules for all payroll receipts per employee per concept.
In case stamping is not made propertly, transactions becomes not deductible for income tax purposes.
- Elaborate, record and ensure that stock options and RSU payments are duly made and stamped before tax authorities, as well as file the monthy and annual informative returns for this concept.
- Assists with special projects for payroll and payroll taxes areas.
Assists other departments with any payroll and payroll tax doubts that arises due to Companies day to day transactions related to payroll taxes.
Assists supervisor with several transactions.
Looks for group opportunities regarding these taxes and suggests procedures for processes improvement.
Education & Experience
Level of Formal Education: A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent.
Area of Study: Accounting and Payroll
Years of Experience: Three to five years.
Type of Experience: Payroll, Payroll Taxes, Social Contributions, Accounting
Special Certifications or Technical Skills: Knowledge of Income Tax, VAT and other federal taxes; analysis of deferred taxes, computer literate in Excel spreadsheet manipulation.
Others / Preferred: Advanced computer and database information processing skills and strong writing skills.
