Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Accounting Specialist. The preferred work location is in Mexico City or São Paulo (BRA). About you and this role - What you would do in this role You will ensure accounting activity recorded within the company's records and books are accurate and complete. Responsible for budgeting, product costing, recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional/business activity results. Assists the function/business management teams in financial analysis necessary for decision-making. In this role, you will require understanding of key business drivers for your discipline and function. You will need to be able to expand conceptual and working knowledge related to your discipline or functional area. You are expected to provide informal guidance to new team members and be able to explain complex information to others.
It is your responsibility to use technical experience, established practices, and personal judgement to analyze and resolve straightforward problems. Your performance impacts the quality of your own work and your team's work and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.
This position plays a key role in ensuring the overall accuracy and integrity of the financial statements and supports the management Financial and Statutory Accounting. Responsibilities: Responsible for the Legal Entities located in Mexico.Preparation of financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules.Accountable for monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting closing.Provide accounting advice for project studies, M&A projects, and contract analysis building white papers with a technical basis to assure the transaction will be properly recorded.Responsible for general accounting records, analysis of Balance Sheet and P&L variances.Follow internal processes, policies, and procedures.Attending Internal and External Statutory Financial Statement Auditors. Comply with all accounting obligations before the government agencies, including SIPRED ancillary obligation.Providing technical support for operational accounting problems that have a broad impact across multiple teams.Ensure internal controls required by SOX will be properly maintained.Partnership with Corporate Controllers to connect the experts in unusual or special transactions.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.5 years of relevant experience in accounting is required.Strong Technical Accounting skills – IFRS, US GAAP and Mexican GAAP.Experience in preparation and review of general ledger posting and account reconciliation.Knowledge of FASB, SEC requirements, SOX.Knowledge in accounting records of Mexican tax and requirements (IMSS, SISUB, INFONAVIT, ICSOE, STPS, SAT, REPSE, FONACOT).Knowledge of payroll accounting.Fluent English and Spanish.Human Skills: Teamwork; hands-on; collaborative; proactive; analytical thinking.Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred in the manufacturing sector.To apply: Sign in or create your account.
