The Advanced Weight Lead Engineer is responsible for managing program weight status for one or more vehicle programs starting from early concept approval and continuing through production launch. This individual will work closely with a cross functional team to track component and vehicle weights over the course of the development life cycle.A primary deliverable for this role includes the creation of competitive based weight targets that are aligned with program functional objectives and corporate Ghg strategy.Daily activities for the Advanced Weight Lead include but are not limited to the following:Conduct competitive weight benchmarkingEstablish initial top down weight estimates for key model variantsWork with Brand & Planning to develop EPA option weight budgetDevelop capability & weight scorecards (GVWR's, GAWR's, Payload, Towing, etc )Develop weight reduction opportunities list, coordinate approval with cross functional teamLead Bill of Materials validation - improve fidelity of weight status roll-ups (status based on EBOM & PDB)Validate prototype vehicle weights - visit assembly plant, address spring & ride height issuesMonitor weight status of prototype builds from VP to Job 1 - validate virtual weight vs. actual buildsHand-off to production weight reporting team post Job-1**Basic Qualifications**:Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.5+ years of relevant automotive product development experience.Knowledge of the overall program development life cycleStrong proficiency in Microsoft computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).Experience analyzing data and formulating meaningful conclusions and recommendations.**Preferred Qualifications**:Prior experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive or Aerospace fieldKnowledge of Vehicle Demand Energy analysis or fuel economy testingPrior work experience with Chrysler, FCA or Stellantis EngineeringStrong communicator both (verbal & written)Ability to create and deliver presentation material to Senior ManagementComfortable challenging others using data to support a positionGood at leading teams with ability to influence and motivate others into actionAbility to develop project plans and work under timing constraintsSelf-motivated, works with limited supervision, able to multi-task and prioritize workloadProficient at conducting analysis and formulating recommendationsAbility to work in a team, build good working relationships and gain consensusOur benefits reflects the FCA commitment to helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
