**Job Description Summary**:
The AEO Control Systems team is looking for a passionate engineer looking to grow in the intersection between the Aviation and the Power/Oil & Gas industries.
This position is required to execute with minor guidance tasks and activities to support and develop the new generation of Control Software of Aeroderivative Engines powering the world.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
Execute, with some guidance from senior engineering team members, the analysis, design, test, and integration activities required to deliver engine controls solutions for GE Aviation products.
Activities include:
- Evaluate the functional requirements to achieve the operational requirements of Aeroderivative engines
- Define key characteristics of the electronics, fuel, hydraulic systems, sensors, actuators and control logic design required to achieve the control system functional requirements for power management, I/O signal processing, fault detection, accommodation, power response and operations across the whole engine mission.
- Use design tools such as Beacon, NPSS and MATLAB / Simulink to construct controls system solutions
- Verify system operation in desktop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop tests and engine test support,
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Be accountable for the quality of own work.
Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking.
Execute within a well-defined operations framework
- Participate in process standardization and GE Lean Simplification efforts
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Familiarity with the processes for requirements, logic design, and simulation/test of real time embedded software
**DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS**:
- Strong Problem-Solving skills
- Software development experience using C, C++ or similar languages.
- Knowledge of real time control systems development tools (e.g.
DOORS, Beacon, SCADE, Simulink, NPSS, Change & Synergy)
- Familiarity with controls software design, test and analysis tools and systems
- Passion for Continuous Improvement and early adopter of change, adjusting to find faster, simpler approaches that are impactful
- Desire to work in a diverse and collaborative team environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
