**Description**

This position maintains communication with MLU, NOC to ensure the speeding up of workevents to set out or add locomotives, distributed power assembly or multiple locomotives, placement or removal of end train devices, as well how to monitor the arrival time of departure crews (crew change point).

**Accountabilities**
- Makes decisions in reference to locomotives and / or trains so that delays are not caused as well as in movements of the hostler for movements in trains with problems such as failures or poorly formed.
- Trouble-shoots and reset locomotive issues.
- Performs minor locomotive repairs including air brakes.
- Links and unlinks troubleshoot DP locomotives. Headend devises and end of train.
- Coordinates the cuts / add locomotives to trains in Leal, with NOC / MLU.
- Assists extraordinary movements to trains.
- Assists locomotive failures or when there are failures in the Distributed Power link.
- Ensures compliance with Operational and Safety Rules, to ensure the Safe Movement of trains and avoid Injuries and Accidents.
- Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
- Identifies when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using KCS Candor, Aligning the Stars & KCS ABC's, and have the individual produce better results.

**Required**
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Specialist knowledge of one or more disciplines of railroad operations

**Preferred**
- A Engineer Bachelor degree is preferred

**Working Conditions**
- Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
- On-call responsibilities are an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support operations of critically important systems and/or processes 24 hours per day/7 days per week. On-call assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
- This position may require mínimal travel up to 10% of the time.
