In the role of Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), this leader is responsible for overseeing the quality of nursing care and the effective coordination of nursing services. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations and activities of multiple nursing departments to maintain high standards of care. The ACNO participates in hospital-wide strategic planning and is accountable for developing the nursing strategic plan and budgets, subject to approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and other healthcare executives. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer must have a strong foundation and knowledge of compliance requirements set by federal, state, and local accrediting, licensing, or regulatory agencies. They are expected to address any compliance-related questions or concerns promptly and take appropriate action on issues reported by department staff. Upholding ethical behavior in all personal and professional activities is crucial to support the hospital's commitment to ethical standards.
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer will also play a vital role in establishing objectives.
