Individuals at this level normally have a college degree with a major in accounting or a business field.
These individuals will have zero to three years' experience which may include an internship.
The expectations of a Staff Accountant in Audit include: Become familiar with firm policies and proceduresUnderstand the rules, regulations and code of professional conduct of the AICPAProgress professionally by working towards passing the CPA or Chartered Accountant examExhibit (or develop) skills and characteristics delineated in the Firm's Evaluation FormsBecome familiar with pronouncements of the FASB and the AICPA, as well as those of the GAO, GASB, and PCAOB, if applicableBecome proficient at preparing financial statementsObtain exposure to the various types of financial statement engagements/tasksAssume responsibility for unaudited financial statement engagements or segments/tasks of audits under the supervision of more experienced staffInteract with core engagement teams and lower-level client personnel in an intelligent and professional mannerEssential Functions:Obtain an understanding of the client's business and industry as well as a working knowledge of the client's system cycles and account balances that are within the scope of specifically assigned tasksObtain an understanding of the work to be performed and the purpose of the workPerform substantive and analytical auditing procedures in assigned areas/tasksPrepare working papers which adequately document the tests performed and procedures followed to substantiate conclusions reachedBe alert to the proper and consistent application of accounting principles in performing audit proceduresAssist in the preparation of financial statement and footnotesIdentify and document control deficiencies or other matters that warrant the attention of managementManage time within limits of budgets and provide real-time feedback to the immediate supervising personDirect and coach less experienced AssociatesQualifications:Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting with the 150 hours and must have completed all requirements to be able to sit for the CPA or Chartered Accountant examOral and written communication skills in EnglishStrong organizational and analytical abilitiesAbility to work well in a team environment CRI unites your professional passions with your individual personal pursuits.
