Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals for their own use.
DescriptionFor an automated process, the technician must be able to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the integrated process in the production system. He/she must understand the logical programming and electronic systems, sensor, and feedback principles to operate robots/machines and resolve problems.
ResponsibilitiesProblem solving issues as efficiently as possible to reduce downtime in automatic equipment.Document the maintenance and periods for each type.Lead Root Cause Analysis and work in process improvements to reduce defects (PPM's).Analyze information and create reports to show trends about utilization and efficiency (TAU/OEE).Coordinate activities of support with the team, maintaining clear and open lines of communication with other support teams like Tooling, CNC Programming, Maintenance, Facilities, IT, and Safety.Implement 5S practices.Understand KPIV's and KPOV's for the process and the control in the process.Monitor KPIV's and KPOV's for the process and the control in the process.Identify risks in the area and escalate to take actions.Conduct daily Gemba activity to identify process opportunities and complete actions.Implement process improvements to increase control level in equipment.Develop projects for cost reduction using Lean manufacturing methodologies/tools.Validate NPI in the process, considering safety, tooling, and process capability.Design tooling or fixtures to improve process performance.Work on reducing equipment alarms and failures by analysis of data.Ensure TPM checklists are filled correctly.Update procedures and documentation that impact and facilitate the process.EducationElectromechanical, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics engineering degree or equivalent combination of engineering degree.Work Experience5 years of operational experience in a similar role.Cutting ProcessesBasic understanding of punching theory, tooling, and effect in different metal types.Knowledge of different metal cutting technologies and applications, turrets, stamping presses, and laser machines.Ability to define and coordinate the implementation of effective solutions to engineering-related issues with the laser cutting process.Basic understanding of metal forming (bending) theory, concepts & tooling and effect in different metal types.Basic understanding of metal insertion (pemming) theory, concepts & tooling and effect in different metal types.Understanding of welding theory, different applications, and their impact on subsequent processes (grinding/paint).Automatic Bending Processes, Pour in Place processKnowledge & Skills in Bending process.Skills in Robot programming and control by TPC.Ability to make hypotheses for Root Cause Analysis and prove with tests.Corning Puts YOU First!We are committed to supporting your health, financial, career development, and life goals as you grow professionally and personally to achieve your highest potential.
