Automation Engineering Supervisor
1.
Purpose of Position.
Provide Operation Specialized Support as Project ,Automation and Controls expert, coach his team to attain Cost Reduction goals during the year, Coordinate resources to support Initiatives and projects, provide technical guidance on all RCA and improvement requirements while driving process improvements through Lean, Six Sigma, TRIZ, MEE and all applicable methodologies, generate financial analysis to fund improvement projects that involve any Automation or Manufacturing improvement deliverables
Works on diverse opportunities and needs, analyzes data to provide a clear understanding of each situation and the available solutions detailing Pros and Cons on each scenario; exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Generates development plans, evaluate Individual Performance, keep a healthy work environment, enforce Corning values, discipline and leverage personnel talent/workload.
Leads the specialized engineering groups aligned with the organization KSI, projects and programs, oversees and assures norm, methodology and standard compliance of all equipment and process development projects.

Responsibilities and tasks of the position.
General
- Coordinate Engineering and Automation resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment aligned with management vision and strategy
- Leader assigned on projects and programs with many variables, and stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity
- Coach Bands C, B, A, CC, BB, AA
Main activities but no limited:
- Execute work:
streams on projects to deliver Automation and Innovative process improvement and step change capabilities
- Lead Automation/Engineering/Technical resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment.
Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity
- Liaison between multiple project leaders to deliver on key plant initiatives (NPI, Transferences, Process Improvement, Cost Reduction, Automation and equipment projects, Safety Related improvement, etc)
- Lead assigned projects and initiatives following proper methodology and documentations practices
- Collaborate on the Sustaining and Improvement of the operation KPIs (Yield, SCRAP, Cost ,CPK, PPK, SIGMA, OEE, TAU, OLE etc)
- Manage and communicate status of assigned projects and initiatives that drive Automation and manufacturing performance
- Build effective relationships with division engineering, division manufacturing, and commercial (as necessary) in support of execution of the plant engineering strategy
- Provide focus and direction to direct reports to ensure professional development
- Ensure the protection of Cornings Intellectual Property (IP); assist in definition of new IP
- Develop technical capabilities in Automation and engineering organization
- Ensure effective process and equipment change control management
