The Automation Engineer Manager will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing automation engineering projects and staff. The position acts as a liaison to the site and customers for project requirements, specifications, plans, and installations. It ensures stipulated specifications and requirements are met and delivered within budget and on time, garnering team contributions in the execution and implementation of project goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage automation projects to meet delivery timelines and CAPEX-ed budgets.Establish and clearly communicate all global and regional Automation strategies to the department.Build and manage projects through the organization.Liaise with site/customers on project requirements, specifications, and timelines.Lead the team to review, understand, and interpret requirements/specifications correctly and transform them into design.Coach, mentor, and train all engineers within the Automation department.Review all quotes prepared on the internal quote system.Report and drive improvement within the site through monitoring key Automation metrics, ensuring project deadlines are met.Ensure all engineering times are logged into tracking systems and correspond to projects.Recruit and retain Automation talent within the site.May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESReports to the Technical Operations Manager. Direct supervisor job titles typically include: Technical Operations Manager and/or Engineering Director or Operations Director.Directly responsible for managing other employees, including hiring/termination, pay decisions, and performance management.
