Ability to support engineering and maintenance teams to install, maintain, and replace automation systems throughout the production process. This position will also troubleshoot component parts, including sensors and control components, vision systems, and other vital technology.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:
- Executes the operational plan of a maintenance task based on equipment designs and work specifications
- Works closely with external contractors and ensures the quality of delivered services and products
- Sets up or adjusts complex equipment according to manufacturing specifications.
- Identifies and implements opportunities of process optimization
- Must have a minimum of five years satisfactory experience in industrial-type electrical maintenance work or equivalent amount of technical schooling and experience.
- Must submit transcripts to H.R.
- This position will be expected to lead, mentor/develop, and maximize the effectiveness of the maintenance crew by utilizing advanced electrical and automation skills/experience as well as highly effective machine and process troubleshooting capability to improve plant performance
- Extensive and deep knowledge of electrical systems, drives, instrumentation, process controls, industrial networking and communication protocols, various HMI's, PLC's, servo systems, safety systems and other industrial automation components and systems
- Special emphasis on Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff PLC knowledge, troubleshooting and programming capability
- Effective analytical troubleshooting capability with sophisticated electrical control systems on various packaging equipment and processing systems.
- Must be a self-starter with extensive examples of self-initiated significant technical and control improvement projects
- Resourceful and effective in a multi-tasking, fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Maintain exceptional communication and rapport with operators, maintenance personnel and management to ensure no improvement opportunities or operational needs are overlooked
- Lead the effort to develop technical skills within the maintenance department, by developing technical documentation, in-house work-aids, as well as hardware trainers and prototypes where appropriate.
- Lead the effort to maximize the productivity and learning opportunity afforded when OEM's are on-site
- Ensure knowledge is captured and then disseminated to the electrical maintenance group
- Troubleshoot, read, and edit PLC logic
- Troubleshoot using meters, laptop, schematics, and manuals
- Motivated to continuous improvement in the process to maintain optimum operation conditions and plant productivity.
- Read and evaluate electrical schematics
- Support Engineering team with programming and installation of automation systems and interfacing with other factory control systems (PLC's, HMI's, robotics, drives and computers)
- Modifications and improvements to automation equipment
- Respond to emergency requests for immediate repairs. Availability to be "on call" for designated days or hours.
- Maintains specified records and logs of repairs, maintenance-related activities
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures following established program
- Perform and drive root cause analysis of breakdowns.
- Complete train the trainer course and be willing to train others on various skills and knowledge.
- Work with the reliability engineers to develop PM optimization.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- 2 years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 2 years' experience in manufacturing environment preferred
- Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff hardware and programming experience preferred, other PLC platforms are acceptable, and Auto Cad experience is preferred.
- 1 year Fanuc robotics troubleshooting experience preferred
- Proven understanding of electronics, computer, and automation technologies
- Proven ability to read and interpret equipment repair and installation manuals, wiring schematics, and drawings
- Proven ability to use test and measuring equipment such as multimeter and additional fluke testing equipment.
- Must have a minimum of five years of satisfactory experience in industrial type electrical maintenance work or equivalent amount of technical schooling and experience.
- Must achieve acceptable scores on validated assessments, internal and technical school
- Must be able to pass the fork truck
