The Business Development Manager influences and supports the short and long-term global go-to-market growth strategy for a Business Unit target market(s). Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support target market value proposition(s) development. Actively engages with external resources to gather, share and analyze key market trends and drivers to validate and create new business opportunities. Develops business plans and offering launch plans. Tracks progress and recommend changes in go to market strategic objectives based on execution metrics.
- ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build Value Understanding (Market Research) (15%)
- Evaluates needs, behaviors and pain points of target customer personas (End User, SI, Contractor, Distributor ) and key market segments including actions of competitors
- Practices voice of customer techniques to gather insights on trends and provides insights accordingly
- Performs competitive analysis: review, gather and analyze competitor information and provides insights accordingly
- Strategy Formulation (Market Strategy Prep) (20%)
- Gathers data that supports segmentation strategy
- Identifies gaps in products and advocate solutions
- Contributes to value prop development for the target market(s)
- Design Customer Value (Marketing Strategy) (20%)
- Owns and evangelizes the value prop to targets by creating an implementation strategy
- Develops market activation enablement tools thru messaging, marketing and content internally and externally including sales and customers to meet offering objectives.
- Positions offering based on target market/regional and associated value
- Communication & Deliver Value (Implementation) (25%)
- Executes the go to market plan
- Collaborates with marketing to create effective promotions that increase revenue thru channel partners
- Identifies and supports channel and partner needs thru collateral, messaging and direct contact
- Proactively develops new channels, ensures long-term optimization of channel mix by geography, product groups and market segments
- Augments offering unique combinations of delivery, services, and products
- Offering Lifecycle Management (20%)
- Contributes delivers and messages the strategy cross-functionally across the organization
- Interacts cross functionally with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, HR and other functions to evangelize and successfully drive strategic intent into target market; via select partners and routes to market
- Collaborates with marketing on objectives and metrics
- Measures and ensures the effectiveness of the strategy, value prop and messaging in the go to market ecosystem
- Creates resolution and get-well plans as needed to address execution conflict in the market and underperforming offering
- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Required Degree: Undergraduate degree in either engineering, business administration, finance or marketing
- Preferred Degree: MBA strongly preferred
