Job Summary Prepares major design layouts, including responsibility for design calculations to achieve functional results, assignments involve creativity with wide latitude for independent judgment under general supervision. May instruct other designers and drafters. Work duties involve a definite degree of skill, accuracy and coordination. Primarily Job Responsibilities 1. Prepare major design layouts of complex units, mechanisms and/or complete products 2. Prepare complete detailed 3D models and full 2D drawing of components and assemblies using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software packages. 3. Releasing prototype and mass production parts, assemblies and drawings in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. 4. Make necessary design computations and tolerance stack ups. 5. Works with Product Engineers and Design Engineers to achieve completed design. 6. Prepares general dimensional specifications and notes, proposes new design concepts. 7. Exchanges information with others functions outside the work group including Production Engineering, Supplier Quality, Test Lab and Purchasing. 8. Performing process data correlation from PQM/Fill the regular design study sheet (mainly tolerance stack up). 9. Performing Dimensional analysis by requesting dimensional study to Metrology. 10. Provide updates and progress of work status at appropriate timing. Report issues and provide requested outputs to complete the project tasks. 11. Supports Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) projects on a regular basis. Identifies and recommends new VAVE opportunities. Competences: - Generation of Engineering Change Request/Orders, Product Specifications support, Engineering Work/Test Orders, support on DFMEA creation, Design Validation plans support, Design Reviews, APQP steps for R&D, Prototype Builds support, Support on the 8D's creation, Create/Update CAD Models and Drawings. - Professional competences: Creativity and technical expertise - General competences: Results orientation, adaptability, problem solving - English: 80% Education: Associate's Degree in general engineering or equivalent experience. Work Experience: CAD Designer position requires 3+ years of general experience in this field. Experience as a drafter preferred.
