About the jobThe Catastrophe Modeler provides analytical support to the Verita team. This role supports the management of insurance product lines subject to catastrophe perils by producing catastrophe model results used in ratemaking, reinsurance pricing, and exposure management. The main responsibilities include preparing catastrophe model exposure data and quantifying natural catastrophe risk based on commercial catastrophe modeling software such as RMS and delivering timely analyses for key stakeholders. This role is responsible for the complete cycle of catastrophe modeling. The Catastrophe Modeler utilizes data quality metrics with an understanding of catastrophe analytics to provide an interpretation of modeled results to the Verita team.Responsibilities:Support the Verita team with catastrophe peril analytics through preparation of data and analysis through RMS.Effectively communicate catastrophe modeling knowledge, drivers of loss, and other relevant information to all stakeholders, such as actuaries and underwriters.Assist in the timely collection and reporting of catastrophe exposures.Assist in the evaluation of catastrophe models, including model sensitivity testing and the determination of model calibration parameters.Develop processes and scripts to facilitate data transfers and enhance risk calculations.Adopt new and updated technology to refine our catastrophe tools and modeling procedures.Contribute to other ad hoc projects as needed.Skills and Experiences:3-6 years of cat modeling experience.Experience within the insurance and reinsurance industry is an advantage, particularly if it relates to the US Property market.A high degree of computer literacy required, preferably with knowledge of a scripting language such as R or SQL.Strong communication, analytic, and presentation skills.Strong time management skills, with the ability to produce results efficiently and timely, manage increased workflow during busy periods, and handle additional ad hoc requests.Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships within and across teams.Adaptability and flexibility in a complex changing environment.#J-18808-Ljbffr
