Job Purpose Summary The Category Manager will play a leadership role in optimizing the organization's procurement and sourcing processes. This position will be pivotal in managing the procurement and strategic sourcing operations for our Wound Closure and OEM divisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commodities management within a manufacturing environment and a proven track record of implementation of sourcing strategies, ensuring effective supplier management to drive cost savings, operational efficiency, and supply chain risks mitigation. What you will do
Strategic Sourcing: Assist with the strategic roadmap development, implementation of sourcing plans for critical commodities. Follow a structured and well-defined sourcing process, which will include a market analysis, supplier identification and evaluation, competitive bidding, risk management, contract development, performance management, etc.
Category Management: Manage sourcing budgeting and forecasting activities to meet financial targets and support divisional needs.
Supplier Selection: Participate in the supplier selection that leads to sourcing decisions with the most cost-effective solution, required quality, delivery levels and minimize supply risks. Actively support new product introductions and transfer programs by sourcing new components and materials in line with the defined commodity strategy.
Cost Optimization: Drive initiatives to negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, payment terms extension and value creation.
Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and adjustments to sourcing strategies.
Risk Mitigation: Identify and proactively manage risks in the supply chain, developing contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
Contracts oversight: Participate on drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Supplier Relationship Management: Primary relationship owner with strategic suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Commodities Management function, optimizing processes and enhancing overall efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, engineering, supplier quality, supply chain, operations) to align sourcing strategies with broader organizational objectives.
Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve the effectiveness of sourcing strategies.
Supplier Management Processes: Define and document Supplier Management Procedures, in collaboration with other functional groups (supplier quality, finance, supply chain, etc.).
Supplier Escalations: Support operations in resolving major supplier issues (capacity, supply, quality), taking leading role as required.
What you will need (job requirements) Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline is required.
MBA degree and/or professional certification (CPM, CPSM, 6 Sigma) is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in sourcing categories or commodities management, preferably in the medical device or related manufacturing sectors.
Proven experience in developing and leading the implementation of sourcing strategies, resulting in significant financial and operational benefits.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Direct experience in complex supplier contract negotiations.
Excellent strategic thinking, problem solving and strong analytical skills.
Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
Ability to work collaboratively and lead cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of procurement and supplier management relevant processes.
Ability to build supplier relationships at senior levels.
Exhibits high initiative towards resolving major supplier performance issues.
Strong sense of accountability, results oriented, can-do attitude.
Strong financial acumen especially as related to sourcing and supply chain.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
