**_Key Responsibilities_**
- Develops long-term strategic objectives, cycle management strategy and underwriting policy and provides underwriting leadership to the market.
- Translates Zurich's strategic goals into objectives and plans the human and financial resources required to achieve them.
- Leads the implementation and maintenance of the governance and the operational transformation of Underwriting.
- Develops management strategies and provides input to business processes to expand marketing opportunities.
- Sets the framework for Underwriting decisions, such as grants of authority, referrals or technical reviews.
- Harmonizes Zurich's proposals with those of strategic partners.
- Ensures effective employee management and leadership, actively implementing talent management, driving capability development, and creating a high-performance culture.
**_Experience & skills: (minimum qualifications)_**
- _Minimum 20+ years of experience in insurance company (P&C & Life)_
- _Fluent in Spanish and English_
- _Strong people management skills_
**_Key duties & objectives

- Controls resource to achieve planned GWP (new/renewal business) with desired line of business and industry mix to meet corporate expectations.
- Interpret and review the commercial drivers in the market and the organization's strategic goals, translate into objectives to develop cross-functional business cases for complex projects and programs and act as project sponsor to ensure effective delivery of projects.
- Lead in the development of policy/governance/regulatory standards within own area of underwriting in order to define the organization's policy position and ensure compliance with regulators.
- Establish event identification, risk assessment, risk response, control activities & monitoring of the underwriting operations under role's accountability to provide assurance that the function is adhering to underwriting governance/compliance principles.
- Review and interpret regional/global underwriting policies, recommend changes based on local conditions and provide authoritative advice to colleagues to ensure effective implementation.
- Lead the development of policy and targets aligned to global policy and brand values to deliver espoused customer service values.
- Contribute to the development of business strategies in assigned business areas and provide specialized guidance and support from an underwriting perspective.
- To lay out business strategy for own area of responsibility ensuring it is aligned to the wider business strategy and the executive team in order to ensure all functions deliver strategic direction.
- Establish the appropriate roles for the underwriting structure required to achieve the organizational goals.
- Support in the promotion of underwriting expertise in the external insurance market to maintain the organization's position and influence.
- Create, lead and manage the underwriting strategy for proposition development in collaboration with heads of business lines providing specialized guidance and support.
- Develops pricing policy, and stands as the ultimate rate setting authority.
