The Closures D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts (hoods/fenders, side doors including moveable glass, tailgates, liftgates, and roof systems (hard & soft top) under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. Look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. Design parts in order to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible of parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant.**Position Qualifications**:- BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science- Minimum of 3 years' prior experience in Closures (release expertise on multiple executions strongly preferred- Broad exposure to various material types (both steel and aluminum stamping and joining)- Ability to work in a fluid environment when overall vehicle targets, size, appearance, and manufacturing location are not always known- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists- Microsoft Office experience- Effective oral and written communication skills- 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills- Experience with Catia V5 required; 3DX / Catia V6 and TeamCenter a plus but not required**Position Duties**:- Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets (Waterfall process)- Understand GPDS (Global Product Development System) and create plans to deliver on time.- Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Failure Mode Avoidance Tools)- Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work), EC (Engineering concepts) and participate in the Sourcing Process (SOBA, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA)- Actively participate in the Technical Design Reviews- Release parts in AVBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting.- Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.- Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly- Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per SDS & ES. (DVP / eFDVS)- Leverage AIMS root cause analysis and permanent actions implementation.- Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.- Parts implementation/Sign-off at assembly plant & assistance with quality issues in all milestones.- PDL's revisions and proceed accordingly if affected- Support VQR's, VRT's and PVT, as required.- Collaborate with STA with technical assistance through the Supplier Engagement Process- Travel to North America & Ford of Mexico plants when required
