**Description**

As a Cloud Database Specialist, you will bring extensive knowledge and experience in Cloud-based environments. Your role encompasses designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining databases within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud provider. Expertise in AWS database services such as RDS, Redshift, ElastiCache, DocumentDB, along with your proficiency in optimizing and securing their performance, will be pivotal for the success of our Cloud Infrastructure team.

This role demands comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in delivering cloud services across their end-to-end life cycle. You should demonstrate the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, showcasing excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Furthermore, ensuring the proper access mechanisms to our databases, in compliance with regulatory requirements, underscores our commitment to data security. Be a critical influence in shaping our Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) as an AWS Database Specialist.

**Responsibilities**
- Design, implement, and manage databases in AWS environments, focusing on RDS, Redshift, DocumentDB, and ElastiCache.
- Be the accountable owner for ensuring Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and backup & restoration policies, ensuring data availability and recovery in case of failures or disasters.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting in databases.
- Provide database connectivity and access support throughout the organization.
- Facilitate smooth data transfers, managing both export and import operations within databases.
- Monitor database activities on a daily basis to ensure the reliability, capacity planning, and security of databases.
- Assist and promote development teams in utilizing migrations for seamless data integration.
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Cardholder Data (CHD) in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident response plans related to PII and CHD, data breaches and leaks.
- Collaborate with compliance teams to address any data protection issues and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate version upgrades with the development team, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal performance.
- Prepare database reports for managers as needed.
- Stay abreast of best practices and trends in database management in cloud environments.

**What are we looking for**
- 3+ Experience in managing Cloud Databases, with roles such as Database Administrator, Cloud Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer in related positions.
- Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and managing databases using AWS services like RDS, Redshift, DocumentDB, and ElastiCache.
- 3+ Experience managing and deploying database clusters in AWS environments, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
- Proficiency in modifying and tuning database and cluster parameters for performance optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of performance optimization and troubleshooting in databases.
- Proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- 2+ Experience Monitoring Databases using tools, New Relic, Datadog, CloudWatch, Opsgenie, and command-line interfaces to analyze and troubleshoot database performance and issues.
- 2+ Experience in database security management and access controls.
- Experience in data modeling, indexing, and partitioning to enhance database performance.
- Knowledge of database automation and scripting for tasks such as backups, restores, and data migrations. Experience with AWS Backup
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and their integration with database deployment processes.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.

**Preferred**
- English B1 +.
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty Certification or related.
- Experience with AWS DynamoDB, Kafka Confluent, CockroachDB.
- Understanding of database licensing, cost optimization, and resource management in AWS.
- Proven track record in implementing and adhering to database-related compliance standards and regulations.
