Job Description CMM Methods Engineer will be in charge to:Develop and validate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) programs and calibrations.Plan and specify CMM purchases necessary to inspect drawing and specification requirementsResponsible for the measurement accuracy of CMM measurement systemsConduct training CMM inspection and programming as neededAct as plant expert and interface regarding CMM measurementsEnsure a means of collecting and distributing compiled information in order to improve qualityRead and interpret drawings and other quality control requirements using GD&TEnsure safe practices are used in compliance with all governmental regulationsDrive Lean effort within manufacturing focusing on QualitySupport and lead projects undertaken by the Engineering team in a CMM Programming and methodology capacityEvaluate new inspection technologies as they develop and present findings and recommendations to managers.This individual must be a motivated, self-starter that can learn on the fly and take ownership of their tasksPossess the ability to affectively create complex CMM programs for a variety of CMM's, stationary and Rotary Table use.Create CMM reports that account for all applicable features based on drawings.Perform Machine Setups and Trials for Development Projects as necessary.Create Process Sheets that clearly define Process Formats and Procedures as necessary.Provide support to machine operators and training to CMM programmers as necessary.Identify improvement opportunities in CMM programming.Possess ability to effectively understand and/or modify created macro programsWork with Outside Service providers as needed to support Business Unit needsAnalyze and document current manufacturing/measurement methods to clearly understand the manufacturing/ measurement processes used.Present solutions/recommendations to Business Units for capital equipment purchasesInvestigate current and developing technologies for improvements in future manufacturing/measurement methodsAudit manufacturing/measurement methods & equipment to ensure global alignment between business units.Manage capital equipment purchases by preparing ROI's and CAPEX, and furthermore managing the suppliers throughout the complete cycle from machine quotations to machine installationsCommunicate with suppliers in a manner that helps achieve business needsDevelop presentations and/or documentation to allow for clear understanding of projects to SAFRAN colleagues Job Requirements Extensive knowledge, skills and abilities in CMM programming language using Hexagon QUINDOS, Quindos blade ultimate, rotary table CMMs, and optical sensors.Extensive knowledge, skills and abilities in CMM measurement analysis using GOM inspect.Must have shop floor experience and intimate knowledge of CMM capability and functionality.Ability to apply higher mathematics and competent in complex trigonometry.Able to propose tools or changes to methods for calculating dimensional chains.Effective problem-solving skills for job related issues and root cause corrective action.Ability to meet job and customer requirementsAbility to follow quality system requirementsExcellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and abilities, maintaining professional interaction with coworkers and any other representatives external or otherwise requiredAbility to act and think analytically with exceptional attention to detail.Ability to correctly read and interpret technical data.Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques with ability to design robust process to eliminate waste required.Experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, Polyworks is a plus.
