The Commodity Manager leads supplier development, partnership, and sourcing activities for the Modine Air Cooled Applications vertical. Responsibilities span the entire strategic and tactical procurement process from new supplier identification, source selection, contract implementation, and portfolio optimization. The Commodity Manager will be responsible for multiple commodities including manifolds, fabricated steel components, hardware, fans and fan drives, and other related items. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing:Acquire and maintain deep insight into the market for commodities assigned, including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, lead-times, technology and manufacturing capability of suppliers in the market that best meet business expectations and objectivesLead supplier discovery, evaluation, selection, and sourcingFacilitate Request For Information (RFI)'s and Request For Quote (RFQ)'s for new product programs and other sourcing initiativesDevelop and implement global sourcing strategies to meet strategic objectives as well as program timing, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.Cost Savings:Develop and implement supply base management strategies both regionally and globally that lead to lowest total cost in terms of quality, lead time, delivery, service and unit costFacilitate Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities and use data analytics in order to drive product cost savings and process improvement initiatives to achieve budget performancePartner with Product Managers and Procurement Analytics to perform ongoing price / rate benchmarking as well as other analytical modeling to ensure market competitivenessUse business analytics logic and skill to identify cost savings opportunitiesSupply Continuity Assurance:Support new product launch initiativesWorking with the supplier fulfillment team to support escalations as needed with suppliersWork cooperatively with Supplier Quality Engineering, Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to assess the quality capabilities of new and existing suppliers to ensure that all purchases meet defined quality standards.Identify critical supply disruption points in upstream value chain and formulate effective mitigation strategiesCommercial Precision:Manage the supplier onboarding processPrepare, negotiate, implement and manage purchasing agreements including pricing, terms and conditions, and expected supplier performanceEnsure ERP system accuracy in terms of part price and purchasing documentsGeneral Responsibilities:Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.Travel ~ 25% of time. Travel required to meet with suppliers and Modine facilities
