Overview:
The role demands a high level of attention to detail and time management skills to meet strict deadlines, and the ability to communicate and build relationships with internal clients at all levels across HireRight's network of offices, as well as with HireRight's external clients.
The individual should be able to work autonomously, but also enjoy working in a small legal team environment and must show a high level of pro-activeness, drive, self-sufficiency, common business sense, self
- motivation, and thrive on the challenges that this role presents.
**Responsibilities**:
- Answering general legal enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders relating to privacy legislation across the region
- Monitoring developments in privacy laws across the region and preparing briefing notes for internal stakeholders
- Review of policies to support HireRight's privacy framework with particular focus on localisation.
- Providing support on customer audit calls covering relevant privacy sections
- Providing support to the Go to Market team on customer calls where privacy expertise is needed.
- Review of privacy related contractual documents such as contractual clauses for the transfer of personal data and/or data processing agreements.
- Production of privacy collateral to support the Go to Market team.
- Partnership with the HireRight product team to review new products being developed across the region.
- Answering other legal-related questions across the HireRight group companies and providing ad-hoc support to the business as and when required.
Qualifications:
- Strong academic background with at least 3 years PQE in private practice and in-house roles.
- Previous experience gained within in a reputable international law firm and preferably also in an in-house legal role responsible for data privacy and compliance.
Experience in the background screening industry and/or other regulated industry ideal, but not required.
- Experience in working in an environment focussed on best practice privacy principles as well as specific exposure and expertise in specific privacy laws (such as GDPR, Singapore PDPA and/or Australian Privacy Act) is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word.
- Professional and commercial approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication skills and team work ethic.
- Ability to communicate to employees across the organisation with impact.
- Ability to research and answer complex legal questions effectively and accurately.
- Ability to work autonomously with mínimal guidance or supervision.
- Ability to travel.
