**Description**This position is responsible for the operation of the ultrasound inspection vehicle, owned by KCSM, which will operate throughout the KCSM railway network.
This position inspects the KCSM rail network with manual ultrasound equipment, walking stick and with the ultrasound inspection van at the request of Management, including but not limited to the main road, sides, yards and rail in inventory in warehouses.
Instructs or guides KCSM contractors and suppliers on site if necessary.
Stays up-to-date and meets the requirements for ultrasound testing.
**Accountabilities**- Schedules the daily activities of the KCSM ultrasound inspection vehicle- Operates and carries out preventive maintenance of the ultrasound equipment in charge, manual equipment, walking stick and ultrasound truck.- Works with infrastructure field personnel and transportation personnel to perform tests in the most efficient way possible and comply with the ultrasound inspection program in time.- Marks all the defects detected by the ultrasound equipment on the road.- Supervises and instructs the crew of the ultrasound vehicle to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.- Verifies that safety procedures are followed and KCSM guidelines are followed.- Performs specific ultrasound tests on rails, change hardware, frogs and aluminothermic or electrical welds to identify defects and notify infrastructure field personnel for their repair.- Stays current on ultrasound equipment requirements, testing guidelines, and trends in the ultrasound rail testing industry, as well as making recommendations to KCS management as needed.- Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.
**Required**- High School diploma or equivalent- A Minimum six (6) months of relevant experience of 6 months in road and/or railway maintenance.- Training or knowledge in ultrasound tests and familiarity with ultrasound equipment.- Knowledge of railway operations in the KCSM network.- Communication skills.- It is required to have a VISA to travel to the United States to receive training from the NORDCO supplier.
**Preferred**- English fluency- Personnel Management- Advanced computer management**Working Conditions**- This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday.
There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.- Business travel is an essential requirement of this job.
Employees must be able and willing to travel away from their primary work location up to 75% of the time.
