**Job Overview**:McDermott is seeking a project contracts specialist to be based in Altamira to support the managing the prime contract on an offshore mid-sized project.
The project contracts specialist will assist in maximizing the commercial benefits and minimizing the commercial risks to mcdermott through a detailed technical understanding of the prime contract terms and conditions as well as related mcdermott procedures.
The project contracts specialist will assist in the planning and implementation of prime contract administrative systems or processes as appropriate to the prime contract requirements, project scope, size, value and complexity.
They will provide contract management and administrative support to the project manager**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**:- Provide appropriate support and guidance to the Project Contract Manager and the project team for the effective management and administration of the Prime Contract and interaction with the Client consistent with McDermott's practices and procedural guidelines.- Reports directly to the Project Contract Manager and functionally to the Senior Contracts Manager, Western Hemisphere.- Provide contract and commercial support for all phases including engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up- Draft all correspondence between McDermott and the client- Train the project team on key contract terms and provide guidance throughout the project duration- Identify changes on the project, developing the change orders and/or claims, and negotiating the final outcome- Track and initiating reductions in Letters of Credit, LDs, Warranty and other commercial risk at project close- Act as the primary liaison for legal ensuring their involvement in key matters and project disputes- Develop recovery and risk mitigation strategies during the project- Track and release of all contract-required notifications.- Act as the contract and commercial liaison between functional groups and the Project Director/Manager to provide him or her with information and accurate data.
**Essential Qualifications and Education**:- Minimum of 5 years working experience preferably in Offshore, Subsea, or Onshore Oil and Gas related projects.- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Law.- Experience in large and complex lump sum projects.- Contractual and commercial knowledge to ensure contract compliance, overall commercial integrity and timely delivery.- Excellent Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and time management skills to achieve project goals.- Fluent in the creation and editing of all Microsoft Office Suite documents.- Foster an environment of teamwork to maintain high group morale and cooperation.
