**Description**This position is responsible for analyzing, modifying and implementing the required regulations and practices to guarantee railroad operations are of the highest conditions of safety, efficiency, hygiene, speed and functionality for the employees, the interests of the company, the general community and environment.**Accountabilities**- Uses extensive knowledge of railroad operations to assess the level of compliance with all KCSM STPS and SCT safety rules and regulations.- Provides guidance to senior Mechanical leadership team on both strategic and tactical efforts to improve safety.- Regularly conducts risk assessments and audits to monitor and validate compliance with all safety initiatives.- Required to participate as a member of the joint operational testing teams.- Assists Mechanical Department leaders research, analysis, and development of actions plans as necessary.- Conducts thorough incident reviews and reenactments to determine the root-cause and corrective actions necessary for sustained improvements and operational efficiency.- Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.- Identifies when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using KCS Candor, Aligning the Stars & KCS ABC's, and have the individual produce better results.- Demonstrates KCS's commitment to being ONE TEAM - Living a Speak Up Culture - by using communication and interpersonal skills to enhance inclusion, civility, respect, innovation, safety, customer focus, teamwork within KCS, while encouraging and enabling others to do the same.- Defines and communicates clearly the teams roles and responsibilities; holds people accountable for accomplishing objectives; recognizes and rewards people who achieve results and deliver on performance expectations; provides pinpointed (specific & measurable) feedback on performance.- Develops and retains a strong team of high performers; creates a challenging and rewarding work environment; organizes a diverse group of people into a cohesive team to leverage their energy, knowledge and skills; creates grassroots / localized events to train & develop others - including location-specific safety training, localized Speak Up events, regular recognition or team-building activities.- Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders.**Required**- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study- Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience- Diploma on safety and hygiene valid from SEP, Basic knowledge in Civil Protections according with the regulation**Working Conditions**- Work Risk Management- Incidents investigations- Integration or be part of the safety comission (union-company)- Support STPS inspections when need it- Support safety training as need it- Coordinate with the areas to eliminate unsafe condiotions- Support on the annual PPE distribution- Inpspection of buldings- Inspection of fire systems- Adminsitration of SIERT (injury sistem)- This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday.
