Description This position manages medical management and occupational health programs to ensure compliance with policies and practices. It responds to employee inquiries, questions and complaints; provides information, guidance and direction on related programs, processes, and procedures, including medical fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
This role develops and implements policies and procedures. Tracks and compiles statistical reporting, training and program guidance. It seeks feedback from business unit leadership regarding related policies and programs.
Recognized within the organization as a functional expert with specialized depth and/or breadth of knowledge. Works independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations. Solves complex problems; identifies new solutions using a broad perspective and understanding. Leads large-scale projects with substantial resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. May lead a project team with influence over contribution of others. Translates functional vision into plans and guides their execution.
Accountabilities Oversees and manages the MX medical management and regulatory compliance team (including drug and alcohol screening compliance and medical availability).Negotiates with Medical vendors and leads the Company's MX Medical Management function.Develops and implements Medical Management strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.Provides oversight for Medical Management programs, including but not limited to the case management of on the job injuries and fitness for duty determinations.Partners with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and health promotion programs.Participates in developing the business unit function goals, objectives and systems.Evaluates reports, decisions and results of business unit function in relation to established goals.Recommends new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed.Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.Ideal Candidate Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study.Bilingual in English and Spanish.Experience in field railroad operations.Minimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including specialized knowledge of a discipline utilized to lead an area of our business, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certification as medical examiner and examiner by the SCT.Specialty in Occupational Medicine.Preferred Knowledge of related regulations.Experience in developing regulatory and medical compliance programs, including drug and alcohol testing programs and certification programs.Essential Functions This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday.
