Labor Specialist Primary Purpose and Main Responsibilities:Provides daily contract administration, employee relations, and training in support of an organization's labor relations programs.Develops a business partnership with the labor organization and company representatives.Produces required reports and forms for internal and external reporting and compliance requirements.Supports the design and delivery of benefit plans, programs, and procedures.Supports contract negotiations preparation process and unit leaders in Human Resources matters, providing guidance to team leaders to ensure proper behavior in the plant, as well as follow-up on disciplinary actions within the unit.Administers and implements the organization's labor relations programs, policies, and procedures; solves problems, manages conflicts and the grievance process, prepares for arbitration, and interprets labor contracts.
Resolves union issues immediately and, if possible in advance, to maintain healthy labor relations and avoid future conflicts for the company.Mediates workplace conflicts and prepares disciplinary actions, grievances, and arbitration.
Provides support to staffing and termination, evaluates structure, job design, headcount forecasting, and other people data analysis; implements tactics to select and maintain a diverse workforce.
Implements changes to administrative processes with union employees.Resolves conflicts and provides coaching and counseling on human resources matters for individuals or groups within a defined organization or function.
Supports business unit and business unit leadership in the correct application of Labor Agreements and Labor Law compliance.
Tracks employee attendance and overtime.Investigates absenteeism and provides social support when necessary.Keeps constant communication with Union Leaders.Education:Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Experience:At least 5 years of experience in services or departments of Human Resources in manufacturing environments.Experience in the implementation of benefits programs, social support, and labor audits by Local Authorities.Hands-on experience in HR Generalist positions, labor relations, benefits, etc.Experience with Federal Labor Law as well as local requirements.Experience with benchmarking HR industry best practices and labor metrics preferred.Knowledge:Strong negotiation skills and ability to express ideas and show objectiveness.Strong knowledge of Federal Labor law.Ability to interact with others with positive influence.Must possess a high degree of integrity and cultural awareness, be able to handle confidential information.
Possess effective communication, presentation, and influence skills.Must be a self-starter with good organizational skills and attention to detail.Knowledge of metrics and HR reporting, including proficiency in Word and Excel required.Experience with PowerPoint preferred.Communication:Is able to effectively and clearly communicate in both written and verbal means.
