Main Responsabilities Perform advanced interpretation of objective medical information and other evidence to gain a comprehensive understanding of diverse symptoms and concerns.
Provide input on new standards and protocols that apply to assessment.
Explore comprehensive medical information that may be contradictory in order to theorize about sources of pathologies.
Make a diagnosis for treatment to be reviewed by more experienced clinicians.
Understand and deliver treatment plans, and potentially help to develop them.
Monitor patient for reactions or side effects.
Support the provision of health and wellness advice to patients.
May be responsible for overseeing the delivery of treatment plans by others within one specialty.
May perform bedside procedures (e.g., central lines and chest tubes).
Navigate complex issues with patients and families, exercising critical judgment in varying, dynamic situations.
Provide support in difficult discussions specific to patient and family conferences (e.g., end-of-life care; explanation of complications; therapeutic uncertainty).
May provide guidance to junior colleagues.
Review analytical results and provide insights that support the development of quality change initiatives or continuous operational improvements.
Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues.
Maintain or operate a variety of health record indexes or storage and retrieval systems designed to collect, classify, store, or analyze information.
Analyze patient and medical records data to identify problems and trends relating to system accuracy, communicating any issues to management and recommending corrective actions.
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Achieve specific goals for a designated part of a research program.
Involves working within established research systems.
Develop a personal program of funded research to acquire funding for gap support and research, and ensure adequacy of grant budgets.
