In 2020, Conservation International (CI) launched the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice (CoP) to collaborate with practitioners of nature-based solutions to fundamentally transform the engineering and construction industry to design and build with nature – to create the next generation of climate-resilient infrastructure. The CoP serves as a forum for collaboration across the conservation, engineering, finance, and construction sectors to generate and scale green-gray climate adaptation solutions. Green-gray infrastructure combines conservation and/or restoration of ecosystems with the selective use of conventional engineering approaches to provide people with solutions that deliver climate change resilience and adaptation benefits. By blending "green" and "blue" conservation with "gray" engineering techniques, communities can incorporate the benefits of both solutions while, through a hybrid approach, minimizing the limitations of using individually. The CoP has grown to 180+ member organizations and 600+ individuals – representing non-profit, academic, government, and private organizations spanning the globe. The Global Green-Gray Community of Practice Coordinator will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic team and will work closely with internal and external partners, including collaborating with CI experts in the Center for Oceans, the Conservation Finance Division, Natural Climate Solutions, and the International Blue Carbon Institute. The Global Green-Gray Community of Practice Coordinator provides administrative, operational, strategic, and project support to expand the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice.
