$ 70,000 a 80,000 MXN (Bruto)Position PurposeThe Core Network Engineer provides technical support, maintains, and monitors the network hardware, third party software, and wireless networks. This position is responsible for the network's availability and uptime and must respond and act quickly to resolve any problems that arise which jeopardize the business or an employee's ability to interact with our systems. They also configure network monitoring tools for the environment and maintain a healthy working relationship with other members of the Engineering team, vendors, and other company leadership through communications, reporting, forecasting, and alerting.Essential Job FunctionsThe incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.Monitor network environments to identify performance issues proactively while working within strict time frames and the ability to elevate incidents within defined timeframes.Monitor every aspect of WAN and LAN networks in order to identify opportunities for better system performance and elimination of recurring system problems. Respond to degraded systems performance and troubleshoot system and network problems in a systematic manner.Test all changes to networks, hardware, and software, identifying any issues that may result, and offer solutions.Coordinate with vendors and management on infrastructure projects as needed to ensure a productive environment.Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Python, or other scripting languages.Support and maintain core route and switch networks, including traditional and software-defined networking topologies.Create and manage Network ACL through the use of Next Generation Firewalls and Software Defined WAN technologies.Resolve issues and prepare status reviews and reports.Professionally represent the networking team as a technical consultant on projects.Maintain necessary project plans and documentation of all network hardware and network mapping, resource allocation, and modifications.Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends and technologies.Research patches, updates, firmware, and related sources for possible issues and perform updates as needed.Occasionally lift (up to 50lbs) and/or move computer-related equipment.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesInteract professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company business initiatives.Provide 2nd tier technical support for the business Network & Stores System – Network Support Group.Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes to ensure that corporate objectives are met.Proactively communicate system-related issues to management, team members, and the user community when warranted.Participate in Project Management teams in rolling out new technologies to enhance the overall productivity in the business Network & Store Systems.Nature of SupervisionThis position plays a critical role in exercising concise judgment in discerning and prioritizing requests based on business needs to minimize loss of production and downtime to end-users. There is a high degree of responsibility in terms of resolving network connectivity, efficiency, and security-related issues.Planning and Problem SolvingThis position requires some independent decision making that may impact multiple systems. This position also must solve various problems that might arise at any time but are not limited to the following: System outages, Network Environmental Monitoring and Resolution, Problem escalations.ImpactThis position provides support to the enterprise both locally and remotely from a physical perspective as well as supporting our business Network & Store Systems. Supervisory Responsibility requires the ability to work independently and prioritize most of their work.Education and Experience3+ years of experience managing Cisco Routers/Switches.Fundamental network design and troubleshooting.Knowledge of large-scale distributed network systems running on legacy and latest technologies, such as SDWAN.Network technologies including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VXLAN.Firewall ACL's and IPSEC tunnel configuration and troubleshooting.Knowledge of large-scale distributed network systems running on legacy and latest technologies, such as SDWAN – VMWare VeloCloud preferred.Checkpoint Firewall and F5 Load balancer experience a plus.Intermediate understanding of various infrastructure components of an IT infrastructure including, but not limited to network technology, server systems, storage technology, and information security.Experience with automation and IaC tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python highly desired.Knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS.Experience designing REST APIs and developing RESTful Web Services.
