**Cost Accountant**
Performs cost accounting activities including complicated cost calculations and analysis. Performs ongoing analysis of cost constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis and tracing costs back to underlying activities for Motors and Generators plants. Coach and assist in training of less experienced employees.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Calculates to provide accurate costing and pricing on all special and standard products to assure the desired profit for the company; assists in the development of the product price list.
- Performs physical inventory and cycle counts; reports and investigates cycle count variances to resolve issues. Collaborates with materials to review and dispose of obsolete inventory; conducts ongoing process constraints analyses. Determines COGS.
- Assesses and reviews standard cost variances in the bill of materials with engineering and supply chain; reviews actual and standard costs for accuracies, reports on margins by job and periodic variances to identify causes and spending variances.
- Analyzes costing reports and capital budgeting requests. Makes recommendations to reduce costs and improve profit.
- Calculate and report plant efficiencies by line and conversion cost.
- Performs annual cost roll-up.
**Required Education / Experience / Skills**:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience
- Experience 5 years or more
- Effective communicator (verbal, written)
- Analytical / data driven
