.HFI is hiring for a Bi-lingual Cost Estimator to provide HFI with a specialist competence regarding fact-based cost analysis on purchased parts, manufacturing processes and tooling for our seat trim business. It is essential that you are comfortable communicating in English as a majority of the team is located in the United States. The position will be located at one of Mexico locations, Romita, Obregon, Monclova or SLP. This is a Hybrid role and will allow you to have flexibility with a home office.The role will be responsible for all aspects of the cost estimating process from initial entrance of the costing request to award. This will include reading/understanding cost forms, requesting additional information, developing purchased component costs, performing labor minute calculations and analyzing freight/packaging considerations. The role will be responsible for ensuring proper costs are obtained and will use their industry experience to determine the reasonability of the cost against the automotive market. As a Cost Estimator you will work independently and with the corresponding functions to ensure a high level of accuracy in the costing process.Essential DutiesProvide timely and accurate cost estimates to incoming RFCsUnderstanding and prioritizing RFCs strategically to allocate resourcesDelivering cost estimates on all seat trim incoming RFCs into HFIDeveloping material and purchased content cost estimates accurately and timelyDeveloping labor minute estimates accurately and timelyEstimating the tooling costs for each RFCMaintaining and growing margins on new business awardsWork closely with purchasing and engineering teams for final hard quotes to ensure final round RFC's are complete, accurate.Meet as required with Sales team members as needed to establish RFC assumptions and customer requests.Occasional trips to HFI manufacturing plants completing time studies confirming estimating assumptions and accuracy.Other DutiesProviding updates to awarded programs as information changesImproving process flows to minimize waste in the organizationDetermine preferred production location based on capacity studies and other factorsWork strategically to redesign processes to provide the most value to HFIAttend Business Case reviews to provide insight into specific programs and answer questions of senior mgmt.In conjunction with sales help facilitate explanations to customers when requiredPreferred QualificationsCollege degree, relevant education and/or equal qualifications.Minimum of 5 years working experience preferred in the automotive industry.Experience with nesting software a plusStrong excel skillsExperience with cutting/nesting and sewing seat assemblies required.Experience from manufacturing engineering, process engineering, customer quoting or tool making for interior soft trim and automotive components is a plus.Knowledgeable in surface materials, molding, machining, and assembly.Independent worker.
