- THE ROLE:
As Crash Safety Engineer, you will be developing the safety systems for Ford future products by using engineering design methods such as virtual assessments and physical test validation.
- YOUR IMPACT:
- Assess crashworthiness performance for high speed crash test modes by means of CAE tools and physical tests.
- Perform post-crash test analysis to identify issue root cause and enhance CAE correlation.
- Interpret CAE/test results and produce concise summaries to be communicated to D&R engineers and Management.
- Develop component and subsystem level test methodologies to validate designs in preparation for crash testing.
- Support design progression with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Drive design changes to ensure Crash Safety compliance.
- Perform optimization studies by means of CAE tools and 6-Sigma Methodology.
- Support and lead technical meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Document lessons learned.
- Participate in global Crash Safety forums.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor´s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent required.
Master degree in engineering preferred.
- Solid basis of mechanics engineering.
- Proven experience with non-linear CAE assessments for high strain rate events.
- CAE software usage: LSDYNA, Primer, Hyperworks.
- High capacity for root cause finding based on test or CAE data.
- Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to address complex technical issues under pressure.
