.RESPONSIBILITIES· Comply with all global foreign trade regulations and free trade agreements.· Prepare and submit all legal documents and responses to the authorities and BWI legal advisors as required. Act as the local signatory for certificates of origin and other customs documents.· Compliantly maintain all foreign trade processes and procedures that apply to the customs team and the company. (Includes, but not limited to IMMEX – Annex 24 & Annex 30, OEA, CTPAT, VAT-IEPS, etc.)· Keep the Prisma system updated and ensure compliance with the regulations. Manage the software providers against performance requirements. Approve billing invoices.· Act as the Customs legal representative for the company.· Represent the Company in external meetings with local authorities, Index and other organizations .· Train and develop the Mexico customs team, and support the BWI network by educating purchasing, sales, production control, logistics, shipping and receiving, and external customers and suppliers on processes and compliance as needed. · Ensure that the customs team complies with and follows all health, safety and environmental guidelines and policies related to the activities of plant operations.· Comply with the OEA (Mexico) and C-TPAT (USA) audits and VAT-IEPS certifications.· Perform regular, internal audits of all customs processes and work performed by your team.· Observe and comply with customs and environmental legislation on the import and export of chemical products, as well as hazardous / non-hazardous and industrial waste from the operations of our plant.· Know the specific requirements of all customers and support any customer driven corrective actions and process improvements as needed. · Review and submit annual budget and monthly forecasts to Global Customs Manager and Finance. Identify and report any deviations or savings opportunities as they arise.· Attend staff meetings with Plant Manager and executive leadership on a regular cadence to provide customs advice for strategic decisions and future Planning purposes. Provide regular updates to the Global Customs Manager (in fluent English). Ensure that all licenses and certifications required to import are renewed timely (before they expire).· Personally oversee customs clearance for critical shipments and expedites, including line-down situations as needed (may require after-hours or weekend coverage occasionally).· Ensure that all border crossing customs procedures are followed correctly and timely to expedite clearance, and advise logistics partners on best crossing location for non-standard shipments on a case by case basis. QUALIFICATIONS:· Experience in global trade compliance in a management capacity. [minimum 8 years; prefer 10+ years]· Experience in an automotive IMMEX environment. [prefer 5+ years]· Optimization of USMCA and other free trade agreements, and local duty and VAT incentive programs available to automotive manufacturers in Mexico.· HTS classification
