The Data Governance Foundation Sr Manager is responsible for operationalizing the Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework and Data Risk Taxonomy. The focus of this role may be on one or more of the following areas: data risk identification, measurement, and reporting, data policy adoption and compliance, data controls framework performance and issue management process, and regulatory and audit response and action tracking.
This role requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead a team of people. Oversees management of people, budget, and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary action/terminations and may include budget approval
- Oversee the implementation of relevant processes to govern domain level capabilities and data Lifecyle capabilities and ensure all relevant governance forums and working groups are functioning efficiently in coordination with the Data Governance team. Define and document process steps, governance forums and roles and responsibilities to effectively govern master data
- Coach team members in their role as experts for their partners on data controls framework including design, effectiveness, performance monitoring and self-assessment processes
- Ensure alignment across the business lines and global functions on enterprise Data Governance strategy roll out, including new data risk taxonomy and associated changes to key risk indicators and control framework
- Measure Policy adherence and remedial action associated with Policy adherence
- Partner with Chief Data Office functions to enable reference data governance framework implementation
- Responsible for detailed analysis of governance metrics including data governance adoption and maturity
- Work with Chief Data Office functions and business functions to ensure that the governance objectives, framework, and processes are well understood and meets business needs and regulatory requirements
- Lead reengineering efforts in database administration, data analysis, maintenance, Data Quality, and database management or database architecture / design engineering
- Produce recommendations for enterprise-wide guiding principles, policies, processes and practices
- Determine requirements for and prioritize development of new enterprise-wide principles, policies, processes and practices as needed
- Develop and manage approach for measuring adoption of principles, policies, processes and practices
- Prepare executive/management level reporting and other regulator-required updates
**Qualifications**:
- 6-10 years relevant experience, Banking or Finance industry preferred in a Data Governance/ Data Management/ Process Engineering or related area
- Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels
- Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives
- Ability to work under pressure, facilitate discussions
- Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders at different levels
