**Job Summary**:
Responsible for new product development and design and sustaining engineering for existing product, which may involve resolution of field problems.
Works in an electro-mechanical environment to do overall product design and redesign, part assembly and detailed part drawings.
Works on prototyping, testing, and assembling prototypes and samples.
Attends various Product Design/development projects.
Must be able to collaborate with of all cross functional members of the design team.
**Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)**:
- Interacts with the manufacturing facilities to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests and bill of material errors.
- Attends team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development) for each major product.
- Assist the team with any/all process improvement activities and related research.
- Supports ABS/Lean Transformation as a Kaizen team participant and assist with the completion of post-Kaizen activity/assignments as appropriate.
- Involved in various aspects of the design process including the development of part geometry, assembly design and drawing generation.
Develops and distributes engineering data, i.e.
Engineering Change Notices, bills of material and parts tracking.
- Initiates and assists with the development of concepts for new products from Project Charters and Specification Matrices.
These concepts must be agreeable with standard manufacturing methods utilized in the appropriate manufacturing facility.
- Submits test requests and interacts with the testing group.
Submits prototyping requests and interacts with the model shop on prototypes and assembly of samples.
Reviews functional specifications, project charters and competitor samples
**Education (minimum education required)**:
- Bachelor of Engineering**Experience (minimum experience required)**:
- English Language comprehension: read, write, attend and communicate effectively in meetings
- Experience with working with Bill of MaterialsoHands-on experience as assembling and disassembling commercial productoExperience in AutoCAD and solid modeling (creating assembly files, parts, drawings)
- Experience with basic coding skills (Visual Basic inside AutoCAD, AutoLISP programming, Excel macros, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft office programs
- Experience or exposure to component design (sheet metal, casting, injection molding - basic experience)
- Experience creating 2D Drawings, dimensioning, tolerance stack up
- Any exposure to electrical layouts for lighting is beneficial but not necessary
