Job Description
The Director of Leisure Sales is responsible for directing, coordinating, training, and supervising the Leisure Sales Managers in all sales-related activities. You'll assist in the creation of strategies and the direct oversight of the execution of plans and tactics used to focus on increasing direct revenue for the property. You'll be responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel's performance in the marketplace.
What you'll do… Direct and manage all leisure sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly SMART goals, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required Collaborate with the Sales department to develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management Recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel group sales staff. Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws Builds client base through outside sales calls, sales blitzes, cold calling, prospecting, direct mail, networking, and referrals. Participate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings Identify and pursue prospective transient business from free market information, as well as information from purchased lead sources, analyzing historical and other statistical information (market segment, account mix goals), participating in conducting customer interviews and preparing customer call analysis report Identifies gap periods (30/60/90 days & beyond), recommends targeted sales & marketing Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the CRS system and GDS system Maintain product knowledge at all times including all relevant rate structures and promotional offers Within established parameters, quote and negotiate prices with customer representatives confirming reservations by letter and drawing up contracts; sign for the hotel and obtain customer signature to close the transaction Conduct and attend business review meetings, strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requested Represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events Participate as team player with other key leadership members Supervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales Department Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the resort Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP's, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the group sales team Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies Maintains effective involvement with key community organizations Achieve established room nights and revenue as outlined by the agreed upon goals Administer training in the Sales department Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager. We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.
Qualifications
What we're looking for... Bachelor's Degree preferred Minimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required, preferably in an upscale and/or lifestyle brand hotel or luxury resort All-inclusive experience strongly preferred Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage, catering sales, conference service and marketing management experience, guest relations and etiquette Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in Spanish and English. Basic understanding of legal contract language Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values A proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook You're a strong team leader, a natural at managing and inspiring others in a way that gets the best out of them. You combine analytical and methodical thinking with high attention to detail and a solution-focused approach. You have a solid understanding of local legal compliance requirements.
